Funeral Services for Mrs. Mamie Nester were held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 1 pm from the Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. Bro William Savell delivered the opening remarks and a prayer. Bro. Bobby Everett officiated, and Dr. Jack Evans delivered the eulogy, Bro. Chris Spence provided the special music and Bro. Victor Bugg delivered the graveside message.
Visitation was on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 11 until 1 pm with the service following at 1 at Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
Mamie Dell Gibbs was born to Clarence and Sadie Gibbs in Lawrence, MS on June 30, 1930. She passed from this life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Lackey Hospital in Forest, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Newton County, a graduate of Newton High School, and an employee of Newton Company until her retirement in 1992.
To those who knew her, it was apparent the love she had for her church family at Pine Ridge, where she was a faithful member for many years. Mamie loved her family, loved to garden, and especially loved flowers. She will be remembered for her kindness, her beauty and style, and above all for her inward beauty and sweet spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Sadie Gibbs, her beloved husband of 66 years, Edward Nester, and her beloved grandson Jake Nester. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtis McCrory and Mary Sue Fulton, and two brothers Bill Gibbs and Charles Gibbs. She will be greatly missed.
Her legacy of faith, hope, and love will live on through her family. Survivors include daughter Patsy Amis and husband Ed of Lake, daughter Betty Evans and Jack of Laurel, and son Eddie Nester and wife Jan of Lake. Survivors also include six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. These include Ken and Bethany Crosby; McKenzie and Brant Lowery, and Rhett Davis Lowery; Stacy Amis; Eric and Amy Evans, Jack, Harper, and Lucy Evans; Laurie and Chris Douglas, Cole and Cooper Douglas; Emily and Matthew Burrell, Annie, Davis, and Blair Burrell; Jana and Steven McGee, Brady, Brantlee, and Brylee McGee; Renee Nester, Wes, and Laken Nester.
Pallbearers were: Delbert Walton, Mickey McMillan, Eric Evans, Steven McGee, Ken Crosby, Wes Nester, Brady McGee, Matthew Burrell, and Chris Douglas.
