Integral Ecology
Many people know what ecology means, but perhaps they do not understand the concept of what integral ecology means and that it derives from our observation of nature created by God, that it should be interconnected between each person and the natural world where we live. As a Christian community this is very important because He is present in everything that is life or is alive.
The church has an important role because each member can make a contribution that means love and respect for nature. We can all help in some aspect such as those we will see below in a simple way: Recycle everything possible such as paper, discarded vegetables and fruits because they have not been consumed, remains of any cut plant or tree. You just have to create a place in your backyard where you will accumulate discarded things. Some bacteria will take care of decomposing the remains and after a while you will have organic soil that you can use in your flower pots and/or in the patio where you want to sow or plant.
Everything natural is important because it is part of what God created and it is our mission to train new generations who love and respect the environment, on the contrary, part of the world does it and destroys it. Another aspect to consider is energy use. Both the electricity and gas in our cars cost money and sometimes we waste them by using more than is really needed. We remember that everything comes from nature and many fuels are not recyclable.
After creating man and woman God told them: “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said “Behold, I have given you every pant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.. And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.” Genesis 28b -31a ESV
When we start to think about what God has done and compare it with what humanity has been doing since its beginnings with nature, we should feel ashamed. All the work of the Creator was originally good and to this day we have not fully appreciated or cared for it. As Christians we should take care of it and above all give grace to Him for being so merciful to us since He created us.
May God bless you.
