Eternal Life
Life, in general, has a limit for every being that is created as God intends it. “The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation and mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and boundaries of their dwelling place.” Acts 17: 24-26
So everything has its time of existence and our time as human beings must take advantage of it, and thus be able to deserve to receive the gift of eternal life that God gives freely to those who believe in Him. That means that we can differentiate what it means to exist as life, which as we know has a biological death, and eternal life, which thanks to our soul and spirit by believing in Jesus never dies.
We are all born with natural life but that does not imply that we were born with eternal life. Eternal life has been a divine gift that we possess thanks to our faith in Jesus. We have learned that by getting to know him through what the Gospel teaches us. This has a deep meaning that every Christian can understand by reading and consulting the Bible regularly.
Eternal life is indestructible, perpetual because it is divine in nature. “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ who you have sent.” John 17:3 ESV
If we have converted to Christianity we can have eternal life because it is only available through Christ. And when we experience it in our daily lives it implies spiritual growth, because we will walk in accordance with the Holy Spirit and in communion with God. We will feel a flow of eternal life when we realize that thanks to the blood of Jesus we are clean.
We will understand that Jesus teaches us that the fulfillment of his mission did not depend on his nature or ability but on the Father who sent Him. Jesus’ submission to the Father makes us realize that eternal life is a gift from God. If we believe in the Son of God we will freely receive that gift that only God gives: eternal life. We can experience eternal life not as a replication of God’s attribute of eternity, but rather, as a doubling of time that will never end. As God’s people we will fully feel joy in His presence; that in the sense that our life with Him would last forever.
May God bless you.
