Confess
For each of us, confessing means expressing actions, ideas or feelings that show us that we agree with a certain spiritual reality. As Christians, we must recognize that we are sinners. “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1John 1:8-10 ESV
The Word declares the universality of sin. However, confessing our sins is a prerequisite to receiving the Lord’s forgiveness and remission.
When we confess and repent, an important change occurs because we have decided to change the path we are taking and begin to walk in another direction to see Christ. Let us grasp His love and possess the hope of forgiveness through Him. Confessing that we have sinned makes us guilty before God, but if we confess that Jesus is our Lord and have faith, we will achieve not only God’s forgiveness but also salvation. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
Many people have an idea of what they believe is how God accepts us, but in reality they never manage to come close to confessing their faith, and they live in complete freedom, as if they were a robot guided by an artificial intelligence. For them, a confession is necessary because Jesus Christ told his disciples: “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me, before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33 ESV
The Christian life begins with a confession of faith, which includes suffering for Him when we are called to do so, as well as serving Him. This confession alone has the blessed reward of the true and constant language of love and faith. Christ will guide us when we sometimes suffer, because we can finally glory in Him.
With the current presence of so many religions that are based on false prophets, we must be determined to act with our Christian church, since it is through Him that we can discern the truth of the Gospel. Let us boldly confess Christ by showing others our love for Him in all things.
We remember what Jesus said to Thomas: “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. None comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV.
May god bless you
