Nobody Like You, Lord
The history of humanity is full of cultures and nations who worshiped and still adore gods. They make idols and images to be idolized, believing they have power and qualities that should be admired. These millenarian customs are the base of a pagan way of life that is full of rites, myths and legends that, no matter their antiquity, they are separate and contrary to our Christendom because there is no parallelism between created idols by pagan traditions and our Living God.
“Hear the word that the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the Lord: Learn not the way of the nations, nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens because the nations are dismayed at them, for the customs of the peoples are vanity. A tree from the forest is cut down and worked with an ax by the hands of a craftsman. They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so that it cannot move. There is none like you Lord; you are great, and your name is great in might.” (Jeremiah 10:1-4 and 6 ESV)
There is foolishness in those who put their confidence in a piece of wood, metal or gypsum. When we discern who God is, the simple person who worships God is wiser than the wise who adores a valueless image or idol. Our God is the true, almighty creator God. “It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.” (Jeremiah 10:12 ESV) That is why Christianity is absolutely different because we are centered around Jesus Christ who is the Son of the living God.
Most nations’ leaders are struggling to overcome serious problems that come from the ambitions of more power over other nations. In each one there are greedy politicians trying to lead others but, Jesus is our promised Messiah who is and will always be the Light of life. On the other hand, the Prince of darkness is working hard promoting wars, violence and hatred among the pagan people and atheists, leading them to ignore the Word of God. The main tool of Satan is to prevent the believer from reading the Bible, thus preventing it from becoming alive in us.
We need to feed our spirits with the Scriptures and to ignore and separate all pagan concepts that the world is daily trying to convince us to follow. “We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, son that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5: 19-21 ESV)
God is a sovereign being, not a sentimental blessing.
May God bless you.
