Spiritual Growth
In Christians there are important elements that can indicate whether or not there is a process of spiritual growth. “May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.” 2 Peter 1:2 ESV
Normally we receive our first knowledge of God at some point in our childhood, through our parents and/or family or in the environment where we grew up. From those moments, many people have the desire to learn, whether it be about religion or a church that will teach us in their Sunday school or other means. Our learning begins that way and for a Christian it will never end. All of this is a paradigm that leads others to want to follow God by learning and getting to know more about God and our Lord Jesus Christ. “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,” 2 Peter 1:5 ESV
We will learn that it is in Christ where all the fullness, peace, grace and knowledge of new principles that are thus given through the Holy Spirit reside. The believer must add knowledge to his virtue by increasing familiarity with all the truth and will of God. Obviously it is a long process that in practice never ends.
In order to grow spiritually we have to learn by reading and believing the truths revealed in the Holy Scriptures. It must be this way, otherwise it can be led to worldly doctrines that are evidently not Christian and that will not lead us to the peace that only Christ gives us.
Every time we learn something about God, we get a little closer to Him and also to Jesus Christ, it is a long road as we have said and our life will always be insufficient to know everything. We must live always trying to grow spiritually and that manifests itself when we know more of the Trinity. Fortunately, there are many sources of information that only requires opening and reading books by many Christian authors. Something very important are study Bibles that provide good explanations of everything, and are a good start for everyone who decides to know more about God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Read the texts slowly two or more times until you understand the messages well. If the book is yours, you can highlight what matters most to you, or buy a notebook where you can write things you learned.
The Christian lifestyle requires and involves spiritual growth. The results vary for each person but it is important to assimilate the principles involved in the church. Remember that those who are not Christians observe us and, when the principles are well explained by us, it will have good consequences for our religious environment. Good spiritual growth of church members helps to change the worldly environments around us making it better with a lot of peace and love.
May God bless you.
