His will and ours
The will could be explained as the soul’s disposition that controls our own acts; whether to do something or not. From a believer’s point of view, God’s will is essential in understanding His creation because it shows His purpose for human beings. “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things were created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:16 ESV)
So, we are predestined to do everything according to His will. “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10 ESV)
God’s will is a “wish of His heart” and His heart is lovely and full of affection to bless those who believe in Him; His will is a mystery because it affects each one individually. This is a reason why we should continuously read and understand His inspired messages in the Scriptures and in the preaching of those who have the mission to communicate the Gospel.
When we accepted Jesus Christ as our only Savior, we had the moral disposition of accepting the incarnated Good because our Lord Jesus fulfilled God’s will, which leads us to the only way to be saved.
Our will, when it is conformed to His will, causes us to say, “Lord I will follow you.” But, it implies some duties. We need to leave or push away those things the world offers us through temptations and not to take advantage of mundane things because, to be a Christian has the unavoidable cost of showing mercy and piety to everybody. Don’t forget that God is love and “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:8 ESV)
We neglect people when we don’t accomplish our duties to God when we go according to our own wills and not God’s will. We should be conscious that we are all part of Almighty God’s creation. When we persevere in following Him until the end we shall enjoy the promised everlasting life and salvation. “Yet another said, ‘I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.’ Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.’” (Luke 9:61-62 ESV)
Jesus’ first act of obedience was to the will of His Father and our first obedience is to do His will. If we want to follow Christ, we must put aside thoughts of great things in the world seeking worldly advantages.
May God bless you.
