Violence
I believe as Christians we should meditate and express our concerns about how society is handling these violent issues and, begin to feed our spirits with Christ to prevent falling into extremism, which is improper for our faith. For years, the Mideest has experienced a climate of hatred and war, and certain governments, whose leaders supposedly believe in God, flaunt their armed power by attacking, destroying cities, and killing thousands of innocent people. Although prominent Christian leaders call for peace and understanding, arrogant and haughty rulers continue their violence.
There are many things to meditate on through the Church’s prism; some of them attached to the apparently innocent use of symbols of the past. Flags, statues and other things that are tied to spiritual darkness and violent racism are contrary to our lovely equality-based Christian principles. It is not the first time in our history that some people have committed murder while showing a symbol.
We can compare them with the Islamic State (IS) when they show their black flags and decapitate innocent people, showing their videos to the world. All these people try to destroy our peace and spiritual joy because they don’t know God’s plan and providence, nor are they concerned about them.
“How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this; that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever;” (Psalm 92:5-7 ESV) God’s enemy sometimes can be recognized as a rattlesnake, trying to convince us they are innocent guys when we know they have criminal instincts.
To be a Christian is different. We believe that all humans were created equally, so there is no one who is superior. Anthropological history has given us different races, different cultures, education etc. but, we are equally saved through our faith. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2: 8-10 ESV)
Violence, and speeches against undocumented immigrants no matter where it comes from, doesn’t give benefit to anybody, and it neither glorifies God nor edifies the church. One person who builds their life hating others does not please the Lord and does not know love. “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16 ESV) To ignore our duties to God and to society is foolishness and gives affliction to the Holy Spirit because it pushes us away from God instead causing us to look for Him. The impious will never be satisfied with Christ’s peace and love. It doesn’t matter how long the impious live, they will never attain to a life comparable to what we as Christians will enjoy in the everlasting life that God gives.
May God bless you.
