Back to School
Classes have begun and it is supposed that students will come back ready to learn what teachers will teach them. Teachers encourage children to understand different subjects during this learning process. The world requires much education, and this tends to lead to professional and economic success. But at the same time, children are offered too much distraction.
The daily misuse of cell phones and tablets at every available moment has created a generation of young people not addicted to meditation and creativity. This has resulted in a significant increase in violence in society. Through a lot of bad recreation that many times leaves them with time available for evil. Youth are tempted with drugs, alcohol, pornography, etc., all of which mean the opposite of success. It is an evident contradiction in a careless society. As a matter of fact, success is the fruit of hard study and straight behavior which produces fruitful values. Education, however is a day by day absolute necessity in this era.
Parents need to be conscious about that, and encourage their children while giving a good example or testimony. The education in a Christian family is based in morals and spiritual values that God gives us through His Word. “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17 (ESV)
Wisdom is received thanks to God and it is vital for our Spirits and quality of life. “For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:16-18 (ESV)
School is necessary and essential for many things. And it is important to acknowledge and support our teachers and, at the same time, students need to learn and be obedient not only to their parents, but also in the school as well. Unfortunately there are many adults who leave this task only to teachers and, they don’t understand that family is basic in the process.
This society has reached a low level with bad behavior in the last generations. It is time to assume the responsibility. If your child receives a reprimand, please support what the school is doing. Don’t complain against the school without knowing what is going on. If you are one of those parents who used to complain against the school based solely on the child’s side of the story, then you are probably part of the problem.
Discipline starts at home. If it fails there, a vacuum is created not only at the school, but also wherever the child goes. Generally speaking, there is a high relation between bad behavior and poor grades. To be a parent and/or a teacher is not easy and the same can be said of being a Christian. Being a good one of each pays off.
May God bless you!
