Homicide
Life is the unique, spiritual and immortal creation of God, and we as believers must respect it deeply. In this way, we understand that any homicide is equivalent to taking the life that belongs to God. Society has established laws and a justice system that will punish, in some way, anyone guilty of homicide, but we are sure that God in a final judgment will make the guilty answer, and that is beyond the power of man on earth. “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image.” Genesis 0:6 ESV, also, “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’” Matthew 5:22 ESV. The word of God instructs us that any murder will not only be judged on earth, but also in the hereafter.
As Christians we can have weapons for hunting, but society allows anyone of legal age to have weapons that are actually designed to kill people and not hunt. Its use is extensive in the armed forces that have the mission of defending the nation, but civilians do not have that function.
Since a few years ago and today there has been an increase in massacres in which someone used assault weapons. The nation is divided on the permissiveness of the use of weapons of high lethal power. As Christians we should think that God knows our intentions in owning a high-caliber weapon. That is already the responsibility of each person, but with God’s judgment you should not live wrong.
The murderers ignore the commandments of God and from that moment there is already a fault that is judged. “But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.” Matthew 15: 18-19 ESV
We must never forget that God is love, and that by loving Jesus Christ we also love our brothers in Christ. This is the fruit of our faith, that one day made us be born again, which made us pass from death to eternal life for our soul. All those who have committed murder are deprived of a life of glory to which those of us who love Christ are directed. Those who have submitted their lives to Satan will never have peace or enjoy any benefit that the grace God provides to His followers. “Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” (v.8) “For whenever our hearts condemns us, God is greater that our heart, and He knows everything. Beloved, if our heart does nor condemns us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him.” 1 John 3: 8 and 20-21 ESV
May God bless you
