Our Life Has Meaning
These days most of the world’s western population celebrates Christmas. Non-Christians probably also buy gifts for their loved ones to deliver on December 25th. However, believers are once again celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and it is time, too, to stop our hectic and busy lives to meditate on our personal lives and the deep meaning of Christmas. Ask ourselves what is the meaning that we have given to life or we only follow customs that Christianity has for centuries. The personal answer will depend on whether we are Christians who live daily and consciously practice the Christian principles that Jesus bequeathed to us and that the Gospels teach.
The media are continually revealing to us a world that has been losing many values of good, giving way to evil. Many people lose sight of God in their relentless pursuit of personal pleasure, power, and financial gain. This reality leads these people to a state of spiritual darkness that makes it impossible for them to see the light of Christ that gives meaning to life.
“Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we are imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ESV.
We must return to God. We must return to see God in creation, in nature, return to have faith in the church, see beauty in art, be aware of beauty and harmony in some serious music and praise and adoration. Return or start reading good books, and arrive at the full discernment of good and evil. Basically believe in love.
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:16 ESV
It is a daunting task that we will come to understand and successfully complete only with Jesus Christ. When we equip ourselves by following God in the Scriptures and boldly applying that in our lives, then we can say that our life has the meaning God intended. Everything else that is created is only proper to the world and it is far from the Kingdom of God.
May God bless you.
