Our Integrity
We understand that integrity is the presence of honesty, morality, righteousness, and all moral values in a man that are the result of obedience to God. Actually, as a consequence of a “developed world”, it becomes more difficult for ourselves to live and to find people who are integral.
Generally speaking, there is a difference between a person with sensitivity and one who is impressionable. A sensible person will hardly insult or try to emotionally hurt another. Meanwhile, impressionable people, as the majority are, try to express things oriented to cause an impression and produce effects in the others’ mind. “But all this I laid to heart, examining it all, how the righteous and the wise and their deeds are in the hand of God. Whether it is love or hate, man does not know; both are before him.” (Ecclesiastes 9:1 ESV) As a matter of fact, it is only with Jesus Christ that things beyond the intellect can be revealed and give us principles that lead us to walk toward integrity. This is the reason why we need to learn to wisely use the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives.
A person of integrity lives enjoying service to God and others without any interest in receiving any kind of compensation. In opposition to the world, where we need to pay for everything, there are people who give freely. A Christian with integrity knows that in this world, practically speaking, he will not receive retribution for spiritual surrender or devotion, but when we receive Jesus as our Savior we certainly know that our souls are saved and we will have everlasting life. It doesn’t matter what evil reigns over human beings, we can have a personal relationship with Jesus, if we allow it. All we need to do is to recognize how useless it is to maintain a life full of vanities, expending energy and time away from God. It is like trying to catch and hold the wind with your hands.
Making a decision with integrity will many times put us at odds with the rules and customs of the world because it is quite the opposite from what most consider to be success. Integrity comes with a life lived carefully walking before the Lord in humility, being useful in service to others and never judging them because that is not our mission.
Death comes to all; “It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.” (Ecclesiastes 9:2 ESV)
“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man; For God will bring every deed into judgement, with every secret thing, whether is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 ESV)
Everybody can attain integrity, but it is our decision.
May God bless you.
