Having the attitude of Jesus
“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit — just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call — one Lord, one faith, one baptism..” (Ephesians 4:1-31)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Sometimes we forget or ignore the fact that God desires for us to have the attitude and personality of Jesus. This is why He desires for us to submit to the Potter’s wheel and allow Him to mold us into the image of Jesus.
Saying or doing what we want instead of praying for God’s will is the exact opposite of the words and actions of Jesus. He listened to His Father and obeyed.
What is Jesus like? He’s like God, and God’s personality is described as the fruit of the Spirit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
When we read the above scripture, we should ask ourselves if we have the same personality as Jesus. Of course, it’s easier on Sunday when we’re in church. The test comes as we go to work or school on Monday and face situations and circumstances that can aggravate or upset us. Our flesh (emotions) can get in the way and we negate God’s Word and begin speaking words out of our emotions. We might even make emotional decisions based on what we feel instead of listening to God and following His will.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34)
Isn’t it amazing that when we choose to walk in the love of God, we handle life’s problems much better. We also treat others with kindness and love.
Of course, none of us are perfect. We all sin and sometimes we lose our tempers and say words that we later regret. Thank God for the blood of Jesus that covers our sins!
Our goal is to be like Jesus every day and treat others the way he would treat them. Yes, It can be a challenge sometimes when we deal with the unlovable but, “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” (Philippians 4:13)
Jesus can make a way where there seems to be no way. God desires for us to live a victorious life. When we face obstacles and problems, He desires to help us overcome.
Living a life like Jesus floods us with God’s peace.
Jesus is the answer! Jesus is your answer!
