The benefits of having a relationship with God!
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20)
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” (John 14:6)
I absolutely love having a relationship with God. I love to pray, knowing He listens and answers! As I’m growing older and a bit wiser, I am learning to listen more to my Heavenly Father. He’s always speaking to me. Since I’ve learned that, I don’t want to miss anything He desires to tell me.
I love the old hymn, “And He walks with me and He talks with me…” It’s true! For some reason, most of us grew up doing all the talking in our prayers. Some of us even recited basic prayers. None of that is bad, but God desires for us to have so much more — a relationship!
He is our Abba Father, which means “Daddy.”
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, will bear much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.” (1 John 3:1)
I’ve posted many times in my devotions, “Prayer changes everything.” I firmly believe this! I’m a living testimony of the power and benefits of prayer. I made a decision long ago to never give up believing in answered prayer. I might not get an answer immediately, but I know that I know, He will answer! I have discovered His timing is perfect and He’s never early or late. His conversations with me come as benefits for having a relationship with Him.
God wants to give us the desires of our heart! Yes, he wants to answer our prayers! Sometimes, it’s not exactly what we asked for because He always knows what’s best. Most of the time He answers with something better than what we had asked for. He’s our Father and loves us unconditionally!
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)
Jesus is calling us to draw closer in our relationship. With Him. It’s a win/win for us! His direction, wisdom, forgiveness, and love flow freely.
“Jesus answered him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.’” (John 14:23)
A relationship with God will change your life for the better! Choose today to deepen your relationship! He’s always listening!
