Good food served for Black History Program
Midway M.B. Church hosted its annual Black History Program on last Sunday during regular service. Sylvia Kennedy chaired the program. After service, there was an “old timey,” soul food dinner. All the foods on the menu was homemade. The food was really good.
Dr. Lorraine Dozier fried “Mama Arlone” fried apple pies. Sandra Fay McClendon made a jelly cake. Sylvia Kennedy cooked pigs’ feet. Jackie Bobbitt cooked corn bread muffins. Brenda Nickols, Trudy Denson, Annie Stowers cooked butter beans. Delie Shepard made some souse, and tea. Shepard and Alice Hawkins prepared Macaroni and Cheese. Dwight Beamon donated collared greens that Delie Shepard, Alice Hawkins and Christina McDaniel cut up, washed and cooked. Bobbie Sanders made the chicken and dressing. Annie Stowers made peach cobbler and sweet potato cobbler and cooked pork neck bones. Christina McDaniel made the Kool-aid. Annette Cox prepared string beans. Beverly Stowers Goodlow prepared roast beef with potatoes, carrots and onions. I have missed some people and their contribution, you may let me know and I will include you next week.
