Birthday Party Planned
The community lost its oldest member last Friday night surrounded by her children and other family members. This grand lady was none other than Trudy Stowers Denson. She was the daughter of the late Milton Stowers and Wellie Beamon Stowers. She was the wife of the late Floyd Denson. Trudy turned 89 in June. Trudy Stowers Denson has two sisters living in Forest, Willie Letha Stowers Peavy (Roy) and Georgia Stowers Watson. One daughter who was her caregiver Yvonne Denson Swift. Vonne is twin. Her twin, Yvette Denson lives in Milwaukee where brother, Bruce Denson, sisters, Pershell Nixon and Freda Denson also reside. Trudy’s extended family include many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Numerous amounts of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many other cousins.
Trudy’s service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Midway M. B. Church. She will be laid to rest beside her twin, Sudie Stowers in the church cemetery.
Trudy and her husband Floyd moved back home from Milwaukie after they retired. Trudy started an after school tutoring program, she was an usher and attended all of the district meeting as long as her health allowed. I remember how Trudy, the late Frank Stowers and Janie never missed a Friday Night usher meeting no matter where the church was located.
On October 26 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a birthday party for the now oldest living member in the community Eliza Jane “Janie” McClendon. Her birthday is October 25th and she will be 89 years old. Monetary gifts only. I am a firm believer who believes that you should enjoy life while you can because the day is coming when you will not be able to.
I dropped my phone in a tub of water and it is hard trying to use a new phone until they can download all of you contacts and information on your new phone.
