Manorris Odom
This week’s highlight will be about Manorris Odom. Manorris Odom’s parents are the late M. C. Odom and Rosie Mae Jones, Odom, Harris. M. C. Odom’s parents were the late Sam Odom and Mittie, Ragsdale, McClendom. Rosie’s parents were the late Lester Jones and Ava Mann, Jones, Ward. Manorris’ great-grand parents were the late Gene Odom, Mary E. Lee, Mann and Bob Mann. His great-great grandparents were the late Henry Odom (I refer to him as the First), Bethany (Choctaw) Odom, Annie Ealy Ragsdale Nicholas and Rev. A. Ragsdale. His great great-great grandparents are Paul Ealy, Adaline Kennedy Ealy, Major Lee and Tony Mann. Manorris is a decedent of Robert (BIG BOB) Ealy and Robert Odom.
EDUCATION: Midway Vocational High School and later North Scott Attendance Center. Attended Tougaloo College and obtained a degree in Physics and Illinois Institute of Technology where he received a BS in Math and Physics). Masters of Art in Math from combine — University of West Alabama and Jackson State University.
WORK HISTORY: A Zenith Radio, Corp he was a Research Engineer in Light and Sound Modulation, A Spark Plug (division of General Motors. A Quality Control and Industrial Engineer. Taught High School at Lincoln High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Park Man Jr. High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Taught both Elementary and High School in Jackson, MS. Taught Math and Physics at Livingston High School in Livingston, Alabama. Taught three years at Scott Central High School in Forest, Mississippi. Taught three years at Forest High School in Forest, Mississippi. A Minister of Music at Forest Catholic Church, Saint Anne Catholic Church in Carthage, Mississippi Cedar Grove M. B. Church and Midway M. B. Church.
Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Midway M. B. Church will celebrate its First Black Historical Banquet on February 22, at 6:00 pm. There are many far and near who have been contacted to be a part of this historical program. If you or your ancestors were born in Midway, married someone from Midway or work for the good of Midway please attend this Banquet. Did you know: The first inside toilet was put inside a house from the Midway Community. Do you realize that house is still standing and is lived in today.
Sorry for the lose of the late Catherine Shepard’s home on Cliff Armstrong Road where her daughter and granddaughter lived. Fire destroyed the home.
Sympathy to the Sharkey Family in the passing of Mr. Marcus Sharkey. His service was last Saturday at Mapp Funeral Home Chapel. His arrangements was entrusted to Mapp Funeral Home.
Marcus leaves to cherish memories: his devoted wife of 25 years, Renarda Sharkey; five children, three daughters, Precious, Nyisha, Martaja Sharkey; two sons, Damarcus, and Marshun Sharkey; one sister, Rhoda (Willie); two brothers, Christopher (Tiyette) Sharkey and Charles (Sherry) Nash; a special mother-in-law Bobbie Ann Bloodsaw; a special niece, Jamyar Lewis and special uncle Keith Nash. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Sympathy to the Watts Family in the passing of Patricia Watts of Atlanta, GA. Her service was last Saturday at West Green Grove Church. Mapp Funeral Home was entrusted with her arrangements.
