Great Gathering
We had a wonderful time last Saturday Night. There were many people there from many places. There was Ada Head Ellis from Ackerman, her daughter Arnel Henderson Ennels of Montgomery and Arnold Henderson of Houston, Texas. Rosie Kersh of Rankin County, Sammy Hoye of Leake County, (Percentage wise, those he taught science, got degrees in science, many are medical doctors, dental hygienist, microbiologist, veterinary medical doctors, science teacher or science librarians, ect.) Evangelist Earnestine Reed was there, Alderman Cynthia Slaughter of Forest, was there. Cannot leave out my diligent cousins the Sanders, Rev. Jimmy, Rev. Jessie Lee, Joseph Sanders and wife Vivian with members of his family, and Beverly Sanders Parker. Others were, Annie Evans of Morton, Velma Lewis of Jackson, Tommy and Loretta Campbell of Wesson, Francis Odom Denson and her husband of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Jackie Bradford. You know you have to give your local members much credit for their attendance, Pastor Westley Griffin and wife Marilyn Griffin, Pam Banks, Tam Banks, Patty Odom, Sylvia Kennedy, Tom and Dr. Locord Wilson, Annette Cox, Annie Stowers, LaBoris Ross, Alice McCarter, Brenda Nickols, Dr. Lorraine Dozier, and Delie Shepard. I am doing the attendance list from memory, if I have left off someone let me know and I will make correction next week.
The MC was Delie Shepard. Scriptures were read by Elder Arther Kennedy of Agape Faith Church, prayer was by Rev. Jimmy Sanders of Little Rock M. B. Church. The Blessing of the Food was by Elder Jerome Odom of Agape Faith Church. The Families Introduction was by Dr. Locord Wilson.
All food was soul food and prepared by the kitchen committee. The Kitchen committee was Delie Shepard, Annie Stowers, Alice McCarter, Dr. Lorraine Dozier, LaBoris Ross, Bobbie Nell Sanders, Cynthia Johnson, Brenda Nickols, and Margie Butler Sanders.
Thanks to the many people who donated food, such as turnip greens, collard greens, sweet potatoes, lima beans, dressing ingredients, ham, beef roast, turkey, pig feet and ears, cakes and pies. I never list what Annie Stowers and I give because we are always giving to make the breakfast menu foods, so we can prepare breakfast each Sunday Morning to give out into the community. Last year we started giving a lunch plate one Sunday out of each month.
