A Lovely Weekend
Salutes to the Greer Family of Pearland, Texas. Their youngest Tamyra in her 8th grade promotions Ceremony won several honors. She was one of the two recipients who won the Principal’s Academic Scholarship which she will get as a 9th grade scholarship at Lutheran South Academy High School. She earned the Citizenship Award for the 8th Grade Female, Principal High Honor Roll, and Certificate of Honor in English.
Jayla Greer graduated from High School on Friday Night at Lutheran South Academy High School. She earned a scholarship to Texas University in Arlington in Drama. She had worked very hard to achieve the many goals she achieved. She was a choir member and sang many solos throughout her career in High School. She played high school basketball.
She had a graduation celebration on Saturday at Los Cucos Mexican Café in Pearland, Texas. While going to the Café, I passed the cemetery in Pearland where Frank Melton was laid to rest. It is one extra large cemetery.
Leslie Ross and I further spent time at Tomika and Jonte’s house and my granddaughter Ashley’s house. They live in beautiful homes. I spent a lovely weekend with my family.
Jr. Lewis was back at home as of last Sunday. Please remember him and his wife Vivian in your prayers.
HBCU Day in the Park. This event will be held on June 10, 2023 at Gaddis Park in Forest at 11:00 a.m. The HBCU’s in the area are; JSU – Jackson State University, ASU – Alcorn State University, MVSU – Mississippi Valley State University, and Tougaloo College. Come out and support your local HBCUs.
On each Monday the Retiree Fun and Fellowship group of Midway Community decided to hand piece a quilt cover then the next thing on that agenda is to piece it. Tom Wilson will be preparing a quilting frame to be used in the quilting process. You ought to see the squares that are being pieced. The meet time on Monday was moved to 2:00 p.m.
Sympathy to the Baylis Family in the passing of Edward Lawrence Baylis of Atlanta, Georgia. He had lived in Atlanta for over 40 years. He will be laid to rest in Columbia, MS on Saturday with the rest of his deceased family members with the exception of his mother (Christine McClendon Baylis). She was the 4th of 13 siblings laid to rest in Midway M. B. Church Cemetery where her parents and siblings are except one. Elton was laid to rest in Milwaukee in January, 2023.
Sympathy to the Darby Family in the passing of Alfred Darby. His service is incomplete at my deadline. Mapp Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements. Remember his wife Lula in your prayers.
Lone Pilgrim District will have their upcoming Young people pageant scheduled for June 13, 2023 at Providence M. B. Church. Asking each of the Lone Pilgrim District churches to contact Delie Shepard whose number is at the bottom of the article to let the district know of their participation.
The 59th Century Family reunion will be held June 23-25, 2023 in Biloxi, Mississippi this year. The host hotel is the Double Tree by Hilton.
