COPP Clases begin
October 7
Last week we all know was a Bad Weather Week. The communities and city have been without lights. We planned on having a luncheon plates for Sunday so we do a lot of prep on the Saturday before. The lights were out but the blinds were opened and we have a gas stove. You could use the top eyes but it has an ignited for the pilot to turn on the oven. The oven did not work. So therefore, we utilized our old age and cooked everything on the top of the stove. The dinner plates turned out well. The menu was: fried chicken tenders, fresh frozen lima beans, squash with onions, fresh creamed style corn, candied yams, and a roll. Normally we make homemade rolls from scratch, but this time around with no oven working, we bought dinner rolls.
Many thanks to the following for making those plates a possibility. Dr. Locord Wilson for donating the frozen lima beam. Dwight Beamon for donating the fresh squash. Annie and Roy Lowery for their donation of sweet potatoes and chicken tenders. Thanks to Alice McCarter for being my wall to wall helper on Saturday morning and Sunday. Thanks to Violet Peavy and Annie Stowers for all of their help on Sunday Morning. The Kitchen Committee Discipleship Ministry and Mission thank each of you for all that you do to help and aide in this endeavor. The next dinner plate will be 1st Sunday in July in celebration of the 4th of July.
This week I am asking anyone who will to help me finish quilting a quilt by hand. Call me for directions to get to the quilting place. On each Monday the Retiree Fun and Fellowship group of Midway Community decided to hand piece a quilt cover then the next thing on that agenda is to piece it. We are diligently working on piecing the quilt. You ought to see the squares that are being pieced. The meet time on Monday was moved to 2:00 p.m.
