Congratulations to: Tyler Hines on his recent appointment as camp manager at Roosevelt State Park, following the retirement of Pam Holman after 30 a career there. Tyler is a graduate of Morton High School, Mississippi State University, majoring in forestry. He has been most helpful in all aspects of his duties required. Personally he was above and beyond helpful for the Melvin Roland family during the planning and presenting of the Memorial Celebration held in the Livingston Fine Arts Center. Thank you, Tyler!
To: Chris French on the celebration of her 91st Birthday Anniversary. Friends and family treated this lovely lady to a “Lunch Party” at Foothills Restaurant. Personal love and best wishes for a blessed continuation of such celebrations.
To: Rev. Paul McDonald and Clemmie on the celebration of their 18th Wedding Anniversary. May God’s richest blessings go with them throughout the year.
Prayers and concern for: Helen Watkins, Gena Griffin Jackson, Jane (Mrs. Hal) Risher, Jerry Harris, and continued concern for Joe Benton, Dot Hollingsworth and Danny Cooper.
Sympathy to the families of: Thomas W. “Tommy-Smooth” Harrell, Louis “Lou” Neal Johnson, Shirley Fay Beemon, Alice Otense Phillips Frasier, Pauline McCoy, Billy Joe Keeton, Dean “Sue” Livingston (wife of the late Aubert Livingston, native of Morton, graduate of Morton High), and Rev. Kelley Eugene Pope. Correction-David Alex Minton (not Mimton) and Ernestine Crapps Pigg (not Pig),
Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Knowing that many have traveled to sports events and are taking long weekend vacations, prayers for safe travels.
Spotted Attlee and Frances (Risher) Harmon in town visiting family and friends and checking on their sister-in-law Jane Risher. Good to see former residents back in their hometown.
Sittin’, and thinkin’: September-from the latin word Septem (seven) because this had been the seventh month of the early roman calendar. This is the time for the Harvest Moon. This year the Harvest Moon first appears in the evening of Monday, September 16 before reaching peak illumination at 10:34 p.m. EDT on September 17. Usually, throughout the year, the moon rises an average of about 50 minutes later each day. But for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the moon seems to rise at nearly the same time: Just 25-30 minutes later across the northern U.S and only 10-20 minutes later farther north in Canada and Europe.
