Roosevelt State Park will host Family Fall Jamboree/ Haunted Trails event on Saturday, October 26 beginning att 6:30 p.m.
MS Homemaker Volunteers (MHV) Leader Training/County Counsel will meet in the MSU/Scott County Extension facility, 230 S. Davis Street, Forest at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29. “What ECCC Offers Adults” presented by April Johnson will be the featured program. Everyone is invited/encouraged to attend.
Heavy Haulers will return to Farris Park on Saturday, November 2. This event is free to all.

To: Morton Panthers Pride Marching Band on receiving Superior ratings for drum majors and color guard, excellent on band and percussion. These awards were earned by the PRIDE students, director and all support staff at the recent State Evaluations.
To: A. W. and Annie Clyde Marler on the celebration of their 73rd Wedding Anniversary on October 26. This couple have been personal friends throughout most of my life. needless to say they have been an example and inspiration to not only me but countless others. God’s richest blessings be with them throughout the coming year.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Members of Morton MHV Club attended the Fall Capitol Area Meeting at the Rankin County Extension facility on Thursday, October 17. Speaker Melanie Chrostopher, WJTV Channel 12 News Anchor gave a most interesting presentation covering her 40- year career in the television industry and opened the floor for questions.
Entertainment was provided by the “Sassy Steppers” Rockett style tap dancing girls (ages 67-87). They performed with a great variety of props complete with high kicks, difficult routines and big smiles. Information concerning various activities in MHV throughout the year and updates on coming events were announced.
Eleven representing Scott County including the agent Rayne Arnold were present. Morton members were Sarah Huff, Diane Kirk, Sig and Jerry Miles, Frisky Roland, Judy Stegal, Kathy Warren and Helen Watkins. Cluster MHV Club member Cymthia Melton volunteered to serve as Jr. director for the Capitol Area. Thank you Cynthia. Delicious breakfast treats and sandwich box lunches were enjoyed during the meeting.
