Announcements: Friends of Morton Library will have their quarterly meeting at the library conference room on Wednesday, March 19 beginning at 12 noon.
The deadline for entering the Miss Morton Pageant is March 26 by 5:30 pm. The event will be held at the Morton High School Auditorium on Saturday, April 3 at 6 pm. Applicants must have a have a Morton address or their parents, grandparents, guardian must work in Morton or have a brick and mortar business within the City Limits of Morton. Fees are $40 per entry or $35 for families with more than one pageant entry. There will also be a Photogenic Contest ($5 fee-no photos larger than 5x7). Entry forms are in a bin outside the Chamber of Commerce office or at Morton Finance, 4243 Hwy. 80. Forms cannot be emailed.
Congratulations to: Saint Patrick’s Day Birthday Anniversary celebrants Ann Rector, long time resident of Morton. Ann has chosen recently to move closer to family members while living in Assisted Living enjoying renewed friendship with another former resident, Jo Ann Burnham. She is actively making new friends on a daily basis. This will mark her 94th Special Day. We miss you Ann. Love and Happy Days to come from your many friends!

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition program, sponsored by the Mississippi Economic council has announced that Samuel Bradshaw has been selected STAR Student, based on academic achievement, ACT scores and scholastic averages. Clay Winstead, who Samuel feels has made the greatest contribution to his scholastic success is named STAR Teacher.
To: MHS Senior Perry Fletcher (aka,PJ) named MHS Student of the Quarter for first semester 2024. His father Perry, Sr. basketball coach was named Teacher of the Quarter.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Sandra Measells recently attended the Texas Storytelling Festival in Denton, Texas. While there she was quite pleased that her cousins Brad and Becky Blair came to hear her romance tale “The Lady in Red.” She also enjoyed visiting with several of her friends that she met while attending the Florida Storytelling Association. Oe friend, Mrs. Reynolds was a featured storyteller.
