Announcements: Scott County MHV Leader Training/County Council meeting will be held at the MSU/Scott County Extension Service facility, 230 South Davis Street, Forest on Tuesday, May 30, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Karen Ingle, Master Gardener, will present the program on Creative gardening. Everyone is invited/ encouraged to attend.
Morton MHV club will have the June meeting at Morton Public Library on Wednesday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend the business meeting, program and refreshments.
A note of appreciation goes out to those who participated in/donated to the fundraiser supporting the Friends of Morton Library. Raffle ticket sales for the “Pioneer Woman” Mother’s Day Celebration Basket and Bake Sale items were important to the event.
A “Heads Up” goes out to Wendy Huff Ellard, Attorney-Shareholder with BakerDonelson on her presentation of the inspiring motivation speech to the Honor Students representing Morton High School and East Rankin Academy. Wendy is an honor graduate of MHS, was STAR Student (Class of 1999), now resides in Madison with her spouse Ben and children Brayden and Addison. She is the daughter of Sarah and the late Elzy Huff.
Congratulations to: Those MHS band students, under the direction of Ksthryn Baugher on receiving Scholarships to advance to the next level of education, they are: Tristen Goss and Meghan Torrano (Jones County Junior College), also Greg Caron, Hayden Craig, Ely Eanes, Destiny Lloyd, Brian Maily, Macy McMillian, Ezequiel Tixtha, Meyli Reyes and Joel Yarrington. Just wish it was possible to publish which colleges they will attend. However, best wishes go out to each one in their accomplishments and to the schools that will continue to enhance their talents and give them further opportunities for success.

To: Diane Hayman on winning the Mother’s Day Celebration “Pioneer Woman” Basket. She reports that the contents donated by supporters of the Friends of Morton Library was worth approximately $200 plus or minus. Needless to say she is “on cloud nine” over her prize.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Rebecca and Jimmy Farris report joining family members for the graduation of her nephew, Daniel Allen, of Greenwood on graduating from William Carey University Medical School with a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. He will continue his studies while residing in Lansing, Michigan.
