Announcements: We Care Missions Food Distribution will be held on Friday, August 11 and Friday, August 25 from 10 a.m.-12 noon at Morton United Methodist Church.
All Scott County Homemaker Volunteers Club members are reminded that Homemaker’s Fair is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12. Those planning to enter items (canned/preserved items, art, crafts, etc.) must have them in the Scott County/MSU Extension Service facility on September 11 during office hours-9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items exhibited will be judged and open for viewing on the 12th. Criteria sheets for accepted entries will be available in the office at 230 South Davis Street, Forest.
Congratulations to: The City of Forest on the completion of the new Lackey Memorial Hospital’s Medical Arts Complex. The new building on Highway 35 South is a most attractive addition to that business district and is a long awaited addition to excellent medical provision for local citizens and many through out the Central Mississippi area.

To: Melvin Roland on reaching another milestone along his pathway of life is celebration of his 86th Birthday Anniversary. Finally caught up with his “Frisky” wife.

Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Hope everyone who braved the heat to attend the Neshoba County Fair enjoyed family and friends (Politics!!!). Don’t know who was there from our home town, but hope it added another notch to you good memory stick.
Florence Measells reports that she and family members enjoyed a vacation resting and relaxing at Refuge @ White Oaks near Crystal Springs. Their accommodations included a nice private cabin and access to a lovely clear running creek, waterfalls and a refreshing swimming hole. She said this little known resort stays booked up by those willing to seek out new adventures. Those family members taking advantage of the outing were: Marcus Measells, Greg and Donna Guillot and children Landry, Leland and Reece, Amanda and Luke Smith. She and Marcus finished out the week by attending the Baptism Service of Amanda Guillot at Florence Baptist Church followed by the family dining out together.
Morton MHV Club Activities-July
The regular July meeting was an “About Mississippi Tour” of the Ronald McDonald House on the grounds of the University of Mississippi Medical Center followed by a “Dutch Treat” meal at the Smokehouse Restaurant hosted by Jerry Miles. Members attended Leader Training/ County Council and participated in other community activities including attending Friends of Morton Public Library meeting and supporting the Ice Cream Social sponsored by “Friends”, supported the Brittany Memorial Closet with volunteer assistance, clothing, household and food items, We Care thrift Center, recycled, redeemed Fairway Food Store receipts for the club treasury, attended the Retirement Reception for Billy Meeks, City of Morton Recreation and Parks Director and donations of new pillows to Ronald McDonald House to restore the supply needs when guest residents leave (their used pillows cannot be kept due to COVID mandates).
