Congratulations to: The “True Winners” on the MHS Cross Country Race Team who gave up the opportunity to win or place in the top 1-2 or 3 during a competition in Brandon. When realizing that a team member was having difficulty team members gave up their positions in the race to offer assistance. The true team spirit showed the respect and love the team shares this season. Thank you Coach Justin Rogers and all team members and staff for inspiring this REAL Team Spirit.
To: Chris French on her 90th Birthday Anniversary. Personal best wishes and prayers for continuing blessings along her life journey. She and her family are truly treasures in our city. Her youthful beauty is a tribute to a life well lived and cherished.
To: Our own Sid Salter, native of Neshoba County and long time resident of Forest, on his promotion to Vice President for Strategic Communications at Mississippi State University. Mel and Frisky Roland were privileged to have a brief chat with Sid and Lelani following the MSU-SE Louisiana football game. He reported that one of the younger family members stated “I knew that you would amount to something someday.” We all thought so too!
Prayers and concern for: Charles Jordan (son of Chuck and Ginnie Lee (Forest native) Jordan, Buddy Gregory of Louisville (request of the Melvin Roland’s), John Dunn, Diane “Tooty” Herring and continued concern for Ford Mangum.
Sympathy to the families of: Vivian D.Phipps, Thelma June Weaver, Linda B. Henson, Ina Marie Butler Wedgeworth, Nolan Jones, and Robert Lee Pope.
Travelin’, visitin’ and such: Chris French was treated royally by friends and family in honor of her 90th Birthday Anniversary on August 24th.
Her daughter Linda Hatch along with friends and family hosted a brunch in the Hatch home with many shared memories, cards and gifts. A very special guest was Chris’ sister Maxine Butts and Maxine’s daughter in law Helen Butts. Another celebration brought the entire French Family (19) members together hosted by Matt and Jennifer Bell (grandchildren) in their home with goodies brought in from other children/grandchildren. There is no one more deserving of such devotion and love than Chris.
Just as predicted, there is much travelin’ and visitin’ going on now that college campuses are filled with students and football fans are following their favorite teams plus lots of high school events in progress. This reporter and spouse enjoyed taking the RV out for the first game on campus this season and renewing friendships along the way and at the M Club. Hope you readers had similar experiences and safe travels.
