There will be a No-cost Eye Exam program for those Third Grade students who did not pass the vision assessment test. Sponsored by the MS Vision Foundation (MSV) and the MS Optometric Association (MOA). Appointments can be made throughout the remaining days in May-through July 31. How the program works: Locate a participating Optometrist call 601-572-0845. Let the receptionist know that you are scheduling an appointment for a third grade student. Bring the letter recognizing that your child did not pass the assessment test. The optometrist will let you know if you child has any vision challenges. All children, regardless of their ability to pay will be seen by participating OD. For students covered by insurance, applicable co-payments may apply due to laws that require the doctor to collect this amount. MVF and its industry partners work with ODs to provide glasses to any student whose eye exam reveals the need for corrective lenses.

Sittin’ and thinkin’: Memorial Day has come and gone…but not really. Every day it is our responsibility to remember/honor those who “Gave All” for our freedom. As I am sure you do as I do, have the faces of dear family members, friends and famous Americans flash across our memories on a daily basis. How wonderful it would have been if they could have returned home and shared the freedom and liberty bought with such sacrifice. It is with humble/inadequate words that I give praise to each of those individuals on one more Memorial Day.
