A New Opportunity
The assault on the Capitol, instigated by immoral leaders, should inspire Christendom to think that we are citizens of a predominantly believing nation. Observing the behavior of many Christians, it is worrying to observe the lack of testimony that their messages show on the Internet. Once time goes by, it doesn’t come back. But for a Christian, the best is always to come. A new year needs to be considered as a time of new opportunities to go forward being nearer to God. “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.” (Psalm 2:12 ESV)
We should take advantage of the opportunities we have to make real and good changes, leaving in the past our mistakes and sins thereby overcoming frustrations. “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.” (Colossians 3:1-2 ESV) In other words, we transform our relationships and public behavior, giving a better testimony that Jesus Christ is in us.
We all sometimes have good and bad moments, and all those experiences teach us. We learn with pain that real success is in the heart and not in politics and material achievements, because virtually everything is an opportunity to maintain a good or better attitude toward God. A good attitude will result in good answers because the Holy Spirit Who leads us will be pleased. “How restful life the one who escapes from the mundane noise and follows the hidden path by which have gone the few wise men who in the world have existed.” Fray Luis de Leon (XVI century poet).
Do not forget that God is always in control in opposition to what the world believes. Many things that technology has developed are leading new generations down a wrong path, and tragedies have come because they are ignoring and disobeying God and not following Jesus’ teachings. Many are not concerned that we are to be God’s servants and we should not live for immoral things creating fake news. Look for every opportunity that God gives each day. “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the death. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.” (Philippians 3:10, 11 and 13 ESV)
We persevere because at the end is waiting for us the gift of eternal life promised by God: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13 ESV
“Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!” Psalm 40:4 ESV. May God bless you.
