As the new school year begins it means football fans are only a couple weeks away from the start of the 2018 season. Practice officially kicked off on July 30 and at this point in the new season last year’s records have been recorded and locked away and every high school team in the state is undefeated.

Congratulations to this years Stationary Parade of Lights winners! Business, El Pueblo Immigration Services; Club/Organization-Girl Scouts Troop #4132; Residence, 1206 Melwood Drive and Antique Vehicle, 1937 Ford Wildrod owned by Brad and Michele Parker. The contest was sponsored by the Forest Area Chamber of Commerce in place of the annual Forest Christmas Parade which was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Last week Governor Tate Reeves announced additional COVID-19 measures including extending mandatory face mask use for Scott and 60 other Mississippi counties as well as limiting the number of people allowed in social gatherings through the holidays in all 82 counties.
