The Nation's Weather for Sunday, August 18, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As Ernesto continues to churn well off the East coast
tomorrow, the storm will continue to bring impacts in the
form of rough surf and an increased risk for rip currents
from the mid-Atlantic through New England. Direct rain
impacts are not expected, but the presence of Ernesto will
continue to slow the eastward progression of a storm exiting
the Great Lakes, meaning another day of widespread downpours
across much of the East. A large area with the potential for
severe thunderstorms extends from eastern Pennsylvania to
far northern Florida and westward to southern Arkansas,
where storms can bring damaging winds. Otherwise,
thundershowers extend westward through Indiana and eastern
Michigan, as well as through much of the Intermountain West,
with most other areas dry.
