Wanda “Diane” Puckett, 72, of 135 East 7th Ave., Morton, MS, passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on September 9, 2024, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Born on October 3, 1951, in Jackson, MS, Diane was the beloved daughter of the late Percy Jewel Puckett and Annie Lou Johnson.
Diane pursued her education at Hinds Junior College, where she earned an associate degree in nursing, a career she passionately dedicated herself to for many years. Throughout her life, she served her community with compassion, working as a Registered Nurse in nursing homes, home health, and hospice agencies. Diane’s kindness and selflessness extended far beyond her profession. She gave sacrificially to the children she took in, the patients she cared for, and the family she cherished.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Annie Puckett; her brother, Rodger O’Neil Puckett, Sr.; and her nephew, Benjamin “Jake” Puckett, whom she helped raise.
Diane’s legacy lives on through her survivors, including her niece and nephew she lovingly raised, Amber Diane Wood and Rodger O’Neil Puckett, Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Joel Andrew Puckett (Linda); her sister, Paula Sue Latham (Ricky, deceased); along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who were blessed by her nurturing spirit.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on September 18, 2024, at New Good Hope Baptist Church in Pulaski, MS, followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Daniel Herring.
Diane will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her grace and generosity.
