Robbye Joyce Palmer Alford, Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Morton, Mississipi, went to her heavenly home on July 8, 2024. Joyce was born on December 2, 1922, in Clarksburg, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband Arie Turner Alford and her parents Miley and Lilla Bell Palmer.
Mrs. Alford is survived by her daughters Janis Alford Simpson (Jim) of Huntsville, AL, and Joan Alford Terry of Talbott, TN; grandchildren, Jason Simpson (Brandy), Ryan Terry, James Simpson, and Allyn Ann Terry Simpson; great-grandchildren, Georgia Simpson, Isabel Simpson, Harper Simpson, and Campbell Simpson.
Joyce graduated from Morton High School and attended Hinds Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi, formerly know as Mississippi Southern College. She was an active member of Line Creek Baptist Church and served as pianist, Sunday School Teacher, GA and VBS Leader, and WMU President. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and entertaining her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Line Creek Baptist Church in Morton, MS, on August 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Dessert Reception in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Joyce’s memory be made to Line Creek Baptist Church, 2492 Line Creek Road, Morton, MS 39117.
