Mrs. Bettie Ruth Hammons Wilkerson, age 81, entered into her Eternal Home on Monday June 20, 2017 at the Sumter Health and Rehab in York, AL. Visitation was held on Thursday June 22, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday June 24, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Funeral Services were held on Friday June 23, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, MS with Rev. Gene Banes officiating. Burial followed in the High Hill Methodist Cemetery; there was no Graveside Services. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wilkerson had lived in York, AL for the past two years where she moved from the High Hill Community in Scott County, MS and was a member of the Sylvarena Baptist Church. She loved attending art classes at the Assisted Living Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Wilkerson; her parents, Myrtis and Calvin Hammons; sisters, Ruby Waterloo, Earnestine Husband, and Maxine Lancaster; brothers, Darrell Hammons and Claiborne Hammons. She is survived by her children, Ruth Armstrong (David) of York, AL, Rickey Wilkerson (Daphne) of Forest, MS, and Hiram Wilkerson (Betty) of Forest, MS; sister, Amy Hammons Adkins (Rev. Houston) of Marion, MS; grandchildren, Richard Wilkerson (Thias), Clint Wilkerson (Macy), Erica Wilkerson Stone (Matt), Deanna Wilkerson Chambers (Tre), Amy Wilkerson Pope (Cole), Dusty Beard (Duncan), Tanner Armstrong, Taylor Armstrong, and Austin Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Karlee, Liam, Brantley, and Landrey Wilkerson, Jack Houston and Kathleen Wilkerson, Wilks Stone, Will and Ty Chambers, Morgan, Baylor, and Nix Pope, Alex Warren and Ben Beard.
Pallbearers were Richard Wilkerson, Clint Wilkerson, Matt Stone, Tre Chambers, Cole Pope, Will Chambers, Tanner Armstrong, and Austin Armstrong.
