Dan Orin Colvin, known as “Yank”, age 71, United States Navy Veteran, retired officer with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the Forest Police Department, and United Nations International Police, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 at his residence in Lake, Mississippi after an extended illness, four days shy of his 72nd birthday.
A native of Pulaski, New York and a resident of this area since 1982, Dan will be remembered as a man who loved his family.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Donna Hannah Colvin; two children: Michele (David) Rogers and Bill (Leanna) Colvin; one granddaughter; three step grandsons; one sister-in-law: Fay Colvin.
Preceding him in death are his parents: Lynn C. and Lucille M. Holcomb Colvin; one brother, Richard Colvin and one nephew, David Colvin.
Mr. Colvin was a member of Homewood Methodist Church and enjoyed horse riding, hunting, and fishing. He also was an avid photographer.
Services are being provided by Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 295 East First St., Forest where visitation was from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
The funeral and military recognition service was at 11:00 am, on Friday, July 17, 2020 in the Ott & Lee Chapel with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment followed in the Homewood Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
Rev. Reggie Tatum officiated.
Military honors were provided by The United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
Ray Dees, Carey Sorey, Michael Shackleford, Kevin Hannah, Rodney Hannah, and Chris Henry served as pallbearers.
