Jerry Tom McNeil

Jerry Tom McNeil, age 82, passed away with his family at his side, January 3, 2020 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Mississippi. He was born November 11, 1937 to Isham Forest McNeil and Etta Waites McNeil of Bay Springs, Mississippi.

Referred to as “Jerry Tom” throughout his hometown, Jerry graduated from Bay Springs High School, where he excelled in sports and was voted Mr. Bay Springs High School. He returned for his class reunions as long as possible. He attended Mississippi State University and was a lifelong supporter of the MSU Bulldogs. He loved food almost as much as the Bulldogs, especially food prepared by his mother-in-law, Margie Harrison. He worked in banking and finance and ultimately owned the Western Auto Store in Forest, MS before retiring.

A member of Brandon Baptist Church; Jerry was a devout Christian. This quality was definitely noticeable in his quiet speech and humble demeanor. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Capitol Lodge for 45 years. He served as Master of the Lodge in 1980 and 1995.

He was predeceased by his parents, Isham Forest and Etta McNeil and three brothers, Isham Forest, Jr., Waites, Jimmy and one sister, Bobbie Nell Dabbs. 

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda, his children, daughters, Tonya McNeil Tucker (Randy) of Madison and Sarah McNeil Tadlock (Sean) of Flowood and one son, Matthew McNeil of Brandon. 

He was a proud and loving grandfather of five grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Whitehead, Jericho Stamatis, Landreigh and Reagan Tadlock. 

Jerry is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Grayson of Meridian and Clara Parnell (Joe) of Germantown, Tennessee. 

Visitation was held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon from 4-7 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020 and funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:00 AM, January 7, 2020 at Ott and Lee Chapel with interment at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Bay Springs at 1:30 PM.
