Mike Sturrup was born May 31, 1956 at Lackey Memorial Hospital, and passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at his residence at the age of 63.
The Sturrup Family, a longstanding name in the business realm were owners of Fred’s Dollar Store, where Mike retired as an assistant manager. He will be remembered as an avid Ole Miss supporter and a sports enthusiast of all areas. He was an active member of the Forest United Methodist Church where he was involved in the Men’s Ministry.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Narvelle Sanders Sturrup and one sister: Peggy Sturrup.
Survivors include three siblings: two sisters: Margy Graham of Natchez and Betty Stephens of Gardendale, AL; one brother: Frank Sturrup of Forest; one niece: Shelly Stephens; three nephews: Brent Graham, Kirk Graham, and Bron Stephens; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services celebrating Mike’s life were at 1:30 pm Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Forest United Methodist Church. Dr. Trey Harper officiated the service.
Interment immediately followed the services at Harperville Memorial Park under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation was at noon on Monday prior to the funeral service in the sanctuary of Forest United Methodist Church.
Serving as pallbearers were Bryon Rushing, Joey Nance, Steven Gaddis, Billy Mayes, Jeff Wright, Brent Graham, Kirk Graham, and Bron Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Bridges, Jeff Brown, Phil Harrison, Jeff Watkins, Terry Latham, O.B. Triplett, IV, and Joe Townsend.
