Alice M. Harrell
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice M. Harrell will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, August 21, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Robinson and Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Clifton Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Music for the service will be provided by Mrs. Dianne Morris, pianist and Mrs. Jennifer Pope, soloist.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral services on Monday.
Alice Marie Williams was born October 12, 1936 in Rankin County to her parents: Tobe and Annie Westbrook Williams. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 80.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mrs. Alice will be remembered as a humble servant. Serving her family was top priority to her as she was a devoted homemaker, taking care of the needs of her husband, four sons, and their families. Cooking was a favorite past time, as quoted by one of her family members: “She was the best cook around.” Quilting and making ceramics were favorite past times in days gone by. A lover of the outdoors and God’s creation, Mrs. Alice enjoyed fishing, farming, and tending to her cows as long as her health permitted. She served the Lord and was faithful to His work through the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where she was a member.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Oretus Craft; one brother: John Thomas Williams; and one god-granddaughter: Retus Craft.
Survivors include her husband of over 60 years: Mr. W.T. Harrell of Forest; four sons: Victor (Kay) Harrell, Jeff (Cindy) Harrell, Mark (Tina) Harrell, and Todd (Renae) Harrell, all of Forest; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Gibson, Megan Harrell, Courtney Nelson, Taren Harrell, Craig Harrell, Thomas Phipps, and Toby Harrell; two great-grandchildren: Luke Tadlock and Reagan Tadlock; four sisters: Polly Thompson of Leesburg; Betty Benton and Linda Massey, both of Forest; and Janie Johns of Pelahatchie; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Harrell, Craig Harrell, Thomas Phipps, Seth Hodges, Blake Nelson, and Luke Tadlock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Mrs. Alice Harrell to the Mt. Olivet Building Fund, 4340 Hillsboro-Ludlow Rd., Forest, MS 39074.
Hulen Austin Dennis
Mr. Hulen Austin Dennis, age 81, passed away on Thursday August 17, 2017 at his home in Forest, MS. Visitation will be held on Saturday August 19, 2017 from 5:30PM until 8:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Graveside Services will be held on Sunday August 20, 2017 at 2:00PM in the Morton Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. Officiating will be Bro. Charles Smith and Bro. Guy Hughes. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Dennis was a lifelong resident of Scott County and was a member of the Mt. Olivett Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and cook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Ben and Carrie Dennis; brothers, Hoye D., Roy H., Willie D., James H., and Delmar Dennis; and sisters, Kathleen Dennis Moore, Dorothy Dennis Ross, and Bonnie Grace Dennis Jones. He is survived by his wife, Willie Earl Dennis of Forest, MS; his son, Scott Dennis (Leann) of Pearl, MS; two grandchildren, Parker Lamkin Dennis and Katie Elizabeth Dennis; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Dennis, Dewayne Wade, Josh Slay, Lath Harrell, Michael Wade, and Steve Lampkin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Pace, Larry Harrell, W.T. Harrell, Jack Hollingsworth, Billy Guy Gray, Percy Parker, and A.J. Stewart.
