John Thomas Gray
John Thomas “Rusty” Gray, 86, a resident of Pelahatchie, MS, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017, at Crossroads Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, September 24, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Gray was a native of the Cooperville Community in Scott County, MS. He was the son of William Guy Gray and Clara Bell Cooper. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS. Mr. Gray was a retired Captain with the Jackson Fire Department in Jackson, MS. He was a member of the Five Alarm Fireman’s Club. He loved his family and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, William Guy Gray and Clara Bell Cooper.
Mr. Gray is survived by his children, Joan (Steve) Booker of Walnut, MS, Stan (Cindy) Gray of Perry, GA, and Susan Jones of Lena, MS; sister, Betty Crawford of Pelahatchie, MS; brother, Billy (Sandra) Gray of Pelahatchie, MS; grandchildren, Lindsey Kennedy of Anchorage, AK, SrA. James Kennedy of Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, WA, and Ginny (Brent) Nasworthy, Texas; special niece and nephew, Tammy Crawford (Willis) Clark; great niece Brittany Clark (Chase) Smith and her son, Kiptyn Smith; special caregiver, Anna Gipson; other family members and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Jim Lewis, Sam Means, Austin Key, Tommy Key, Jr., Bill Brown and Marty Gray.
Otis Gordon, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Wed. Sept. 27, 2017 while under the loving care of his family after a brief battle with cancer.
Otis, a resident of Brandon, Mississippi, is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cynthia Martin Gordon; his daughter, Gina Gordon Ladner and her husband, Gary Ladner; and his son, Barry Blake Gordon and his wife, Stephanie Shedd Gordon. Also left to celebrate his life are his four grandchildren, Blake and Tyler Gordon, and Gage and Gray Ladner.
Otis is also survived by his sisters, Neva Massey of Morton and Vera Mena of Quitman; his brother-in-law, Mack D. Owens; four sisters-in-law, Linda Beagle and her husband Mike Beagle, Pat Schade, Ann Cejka, Evelyn Martin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Melissa Gordon; two brothers, Albert Gordon and Tommy Gordon and three sisters, Lela Gray, Ortis Owens and Bertha Gordon.
Born in Morton, Mississippi, Otis attended Clarksburg School in Morton and joined the Navy in August 1942, serving in WWII until December 1945, earning a commendation for exceptional bravery for service in a conflict with the enemy while attached to the ship SS Samuel Parker.
Otis retired from his position as Plant Superintendent of Gregory Manufacturing Company in 1989. Otis was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout his life and was frequently accompanied by his wife, his son, and his daughter.
Visitation was held on Fri. Sept. 29, 2017 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and Sat. Sept. 30, 2017 from 11 a.m.-11:45 a.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services were 12 p.m. on Sat. Sept. 29, 2017 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS. Dr. Clarence Cooper officiated the services. Pallbearers were Blake Gordon, Tyler Gordon, Gary Ladner, Gage Ladner, Michael Beagle and Ryan Martin.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Baptist Medical Center’s physicians and nurses and Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS for their compassionate care.

Earnest Allen Waltman
Mr. Earnest Allen Waltman, age 78, passed away on Thursday September 28, 2017 at his home in Lake, MS. Visitation was held on Friday September 29, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS and again on Saturday September 30, 2017 from 10:30 a.m until 10:50 a.m at First Baptist Church in Lake, MS. Funeral Services were held on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m at the First Baptist Church in Lake, MS with Bro. Ken McLemore and Bro. Travis Watkins officiating. Burial followed in the Dennis Cemetery in Lake, MS. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Waltman had lived in Lake, MS for 52 years, where he moved from Smith County, MS and the Kalem Community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, and Trustee. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and cooking for the Men’s Breakfast at church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ora Waltman; and his sister, Pamela Killens. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Waltman of Lake, MS; his daughter, Melissa May (Steve) of Lake, MS; two sisters, Mary Burns of Sebastopol, MS and Eula Fay King of Portland, TN; one brother, Oliver Waltman (Zonia) of Pelham, AL; six grandchildren, Laci Bridges, Jacob Simmons, Anna Simmons, Joshua May, Stephanie Creel, and Marilee Laiheugue; two great-grandchildren, Bobby Joe Bridges and Kinnen Laiheugue; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Granville Freeman, Bill Freeman, David Freeman, Darryl Waltman, Jason Waltman, and Larry Parks.
