Ronald Carlton Walsh, Sr., Lt. Col. USAF retired, age 85, passed away Wednesday October 17, 2018 at his residence in Forest, MS.
After a distinguished 23 year military career (USAF and Marines) he retired to Forest, MS. He was involved in the poultry industry for thirteen years at Green Acre Farms, B.C. Rogers and Claxton Poultry. He was an avid golfer. In his early military career he represented the USAF as a member of the Far East golf team.
In retirement, his fishing trips were to Alaska, where he spent most of his summers.
He became an accomplished gardener both at the farm and in his back yard. He was a founding member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Forest.
He was a past President of Forest Country Club and President of C.E. Walsh Farms for many years. His life time of philanthropic endeavors were done anonymously.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Mary Stewart Walsh. He was the last of twelve siblings to enter the Gates of Heaven. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Walsh; two daughters, Betsy Corkran (Ronald E.); Kelly J Leiden; his son, Ronald C Walsh, Jr (Katherine); nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Wolf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements with The Reverend Charlie Deaton officiating. Burial was in Rehoboth Cemetery on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
