Tate Fortenberry Jr.

Tate Fortenberry Jr., 92, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A celebration of life was at 11am Friday, October 26, 2018, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Burial followed at Eureka Baptist Church near Pisgah, with Military and Masonic Rites. Dr. Kevin Cooper and Rev. Rodney Bounds officiated.

Tate was a World War II veteran, a Mason for 60 years, and retired from International Paper Company after 34 years.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Myrtle, known as “LOVE”, two daughters, Shirley Allen (Larry) and Patrice Bailey (Buddy); four grandchildren, Gregg Allen, Gretta Allen Madison (Turtle), Kayla Bailey Harris (Parker) and Morgan Tate Bailey; two great grandchildren, Laken and Kam Madison.  Mr. Fortenberry is preceded in death by his parents, Tate Sr. and Nadine Fortenberry and three sisters, Ola Mae Dyess, Elizabeth Thompson, and Janice Jackson.

Pallbearers were Kevin Jackson, Charles Renfrow, Michael Renfrow, Andy White, Bobby Squires and Matthew Warren.  Monroe Skelton served as an honorary pallbearer.
