Vander L. Sones, 81, of Forest, MS died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, MS. He was born Sunday, September 6, 1936 in Scott, MS.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Forest. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. following a 9:00 a.m. visitation at Forest Baptist Church in Forest, MS. Burial followed in Antioch Steele Cemetery in Forest, MS. Dr. Scott Fortenberry and Bro. Roy Pate and Bro. Victor Bugg will officiate. Colonial Chapel in Forest was in charge of arrangements. (601)469-1941
Mr. Vander served in the US Army for two years from 1956 to 1958. He was a member of Forest Baptist Church where he was a member of the LO Atkins Sunday School Class. He was a house painter by trade and was an avid sportsman.
He is preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Sones, mother, Aubrey Sones, sister, Nell Stewart, brother, James Sones.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bettie Sones, Forest, MS, daughter, Sallie Sones, Forest, MS, son, Samuel Sones, Brandon, MS, niece, Beth Herrington, Lake, MS, sister-in-law, Rebecca Sones, Forest, MS, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mike Durham, Wayne Gordy, Deckie Arinder, Will Jones, Tommy Joiner, Gary Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Barney Bounds, Pat Barnes, Jr., Robert Marveggio and James Rushing, Members of LO Atkins Sunday School Class.
