Mr. Walton L. Young, Dub “Pop” age 75, passed away Monday October 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family, he went to be with The Lord. A visitation was held on Wednesday October 23, 2019 from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday October 24, 2019 from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. A funeral service was held on Thursday October 24, 2019 at Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton, MS at 2:00 PM with burial and Military Rites at Morton Memorial Gardens in Morton, MS. Brother Aaron Woods and Reverend Marty Wilson officiated.
Mr. Young was Baptist by faith, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Morton, MS. He lived most of his life in Morton and was a 1962 graduate of Morton, High School. After High School, he enlisted in the Marine Corp where he served as a rifle instructor. After his service in the Marines he worked various jobs for IP Nichols & Wells, Fountain Construction and AES. Mr. Young was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Spurgeon and Nelia Young and sister Irene Townsend. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Liz “Miss Liz” Young of Morton, MS; six children, daughter, Cathy Johnson (Steven) of Coushatta, LA, sons; Scott Young (Regina) of Morton, MS, Adam Young (Shasta) of Forest, MS, Rick Wirick (Angel) of Pearl, MS, Matt Wirick of Morton, MS and Rob Wirick of Costa Rica; four sisters, Latain Blossom of Forest, MS, Ruby Hamilton of Forest, MS, Sherrie Johnson (Fred) of Morton, MS and Lucy Young of Vicksburg, MS; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Christopher Young, Zach Young, Brandon Wirick, Hayden Wirick, Austin Wirick, and Noah McWilliams.
