Earthquake!!!!
Last week Janet and Harry Culpepper gifted me a trip to California to visit my brother, James Emmons and his wife Barbara, in Santa Rosa, California. We were sitting in their house, when the loudest noise and shaking happened. My first thought that we had been bombed. Barbara screamed “earthquake” and I just literally froze in my chair. A few minutes later we had an after shock. We did get a warning, but it was after the fact. It was a 4.4 and was close by. I felt nervous inside but, thankfully, nothing was damaged on their property. Their electric power was off for a couple of hours. Barbara asked if I wanted a glass of wine. I don’t like the taste or smell of any alcohol, but told her I would try it. I then, jokingly, ask her if she had anything stronger.
When Covid hit and we had the two year shutdown, it made traveling impossible to keep our normal visits. My brother remained in California after his tenure with the Navy, after WWII. He worked as a Ca. Highway Patrolman for 29 years. They have a 16 acre ranch/grape vineyard and since his retirement, he was active in Quarter horse shows, fishing and keeping things groomed. About five years ago they lost everything but a truck, where more than 3,000 home burned. He has health issues now and is limited, but at 96 years young, he does good. He is the last of my 4 brothers. Janet and Harry went on to Sisters, Ore. and visited their daughter, Jessica and her 4 children. (Traveling is great, but home is a great sight

Parents Beware! FX Cartoon Sitcom entitled “Demon.” The trailer includes images of hell, demons, satanic imagery and main character is the antichrist. Disney includes a surreal description: Thirteen years after being impregnated by satan, a reluctant mother and her antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul. The Lord is my Shepherd... You’re not to dirty for God to cleanse, you’re not to broken for God to fix, you’re not toofar from God to reach, you’re not to guilty for God to forgive AND you’re not to worthless for God to forgive.

Recipe for Apple pie/coffee cake: 1 box cake mix (15.25 oz). 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 cup sour cream, 3 eggs, 1/4 cup water and 1 can of Apple Pie filling. Beat first 5 ingredients until well blended. Pour mixture in oiled 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Make glaze with 1 cup confection sugar and 1 & 1/2 cups milk and mix good and spread on cake. If it is too thick add more milk. Can use with blueberries or strawberry pie filling.
Prayers needed for J. C. Nicholas, Becky Burkes Hynes and all others that are having health issues. Our sympathy to the families of Gary Risher, Dwight Faulkner, Jim Lackey and any others who have lost loved ones.
When you wake up every morning it’s not just another day, it’s another chance at life, another opportunity to challenge yourself to become better. Be grateful for every sunrise because every day is a blessing! It’s Amazing!!
