Trail Ride is Saturday

This Saturday, October 21, marks Bentley’s Sixth Annual Ride for Children’s of Mississippi Hospital. The event will take place at Jamey Johnson’s Barn, 695 Union Road, Philadelphia, MS. The event opens at 9 a.m. in front of the barn with Cowboy Church and Prayer led by Bro. Micheal Harper. The trail ride leaves at 9:30. Stew will be provided after the ride. There will be an auction. A live concert by Benjamin Allen McBride and the Livestock Band is on tap. The cost for the concert and live band is $20 per person with 12 and under admitted free. Other events connected to the annual ride are as follows: Oct. 21 — first band break — Halloween Costume Contest. Anyone can enter — $$prize for top three best costumes. There will be a judge and only one winner no matter the ages participating. Flamingo Flo’s snow cone stand in Sebastopol will be available after the ride! All donations will be given to Childrens of Mississippi. Saturday after the ride, get ready for a kiddie pumpkin paint table. All donations will be given to Childrens of Mississippi. Come support this very worthy cause and this terrific young man and his family.
Brother David Rives will be bringing services at Salem (Hwy. 492) though the rest of 2023. Morning worship is at 10 a.m. Evening services are at 5 p.m. Bible study and youth work are on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend these services.
October events to mark on your calendar: October 19, Third Thursday Sip and Shop from 6-8 p.m. Class reunion for the Sebastopol classes of 1950-1970 at the Co-op Community Center from 2-4 p.m. October 31, trick or treating in the parking lot behind the school cafeteria.
Something new coming to Sebastopol: From 8 A.M. till 4 P.M., November 11 at the Co-op Community Center, located near the fire station, will be the Jingle and Mingle Christmas Market. Stay tuned for further details in weeks to come.
Please say a special prayer for a touch from the Great Physician for little Sam McNaugh, Bentley Strickland, Maci Hamilton, Matthew O’Neal (awaiting a heart transplant). Update: Sam is steadily improving and may soon be able to come home from Boston Children’s Hospital.

Although the intense heat has let up and we are seeing much cooler weather, we still need to pray for rain!! It will take several inches of rain before we can even consider burning fires. Remember not to set any fires in this extremely dry weather. One tiny spark can set off a quickly spreading wildfire.
