Congratulations to the following power lifters who placed in State Competition: Blayze Barnes, second place in female competition; Jamarious Lay, third; Jayden Irby, second; Wesley Donald, state champion; and T. J. Yates, state champion, in the 2A record books for total weight lifted and dead lift record. He is now in the 1A and 2A record books and is a back to back champion. T.J. is also on the first team Super 12, which goes to the top lifters in the state in all classifications–1-7.
FYI – Salem Church (Hwy.487) has new times for services. Beginning April 7, Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m. and worship service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday night service will be at 5 p.m. and Wednesday night service is at 6 o’clock. Services continue in the fellowship hall, but construction on the sanctuary is drawing near completion.
PreK registration for students who will be four before September 1, 2024, will be held Thursday, April 18, at the Forest Public Library from 2-6 p.m. Parents will need to bring the following documents with them for registration: birth certificate, MS immunization 12; registration packet, parent photo ID, custodial papers (if applicable), social security card, two proofs of residency which may be one of the following–filed homestead exemption, mortgage or property deed; 1040 tax return/W-2 for the 2023 tax year, snap card, medicaid/private insurance card, voter registration precinct identification, rental/ lease agreement, utility bill, automotive tax receipt, state or national ID/license; other requirements–current physical exam screening (EPSDT form), and a current dental exam.
Future events you may be interested in are as follows: Camp Bailey 1 – June 3-6, 2024, and Camp Bailey II – June 16-20, 2024. Online registration forms are now available for Camp Bailey I. Be sure to get your registrations in as soon as possible.
I know that there are many young people in our area who are suffering from numerous medical problems, but there are four children ranging in ages from three to twelve who are on my mind that need a special healing touch from God. One of these children has a serious heart defect at the age of two and has never had the privilege of tasting food; one has a form of adult cancer that the doctors don’t know how to treat it. Please say a special prayer for a touch from the Great Physician for little Sam McNaugh, Bentley Strickland, Maci Hamilton, Matthew O’Neal (awaiting a heart transplant). These are tough little fighters who have endured and continue to endure daily pain. Please continue to pray for these amazing young people. Update: Sam has been back to Boston for a procedure on his heart but is back in Mississippi; please continue to pray for his improvement as the days go by. Matthew has suffered a stroke this past week; but he is still patiently waiting for a heart transplant. Pray this will soon happen for such a sweet little boy. Maci is doing well at this time and is enjoying some home time with her family.
