Our community is shocked and saddened by the tragic events surrounding the death of recent Forest High School graduate Hope Holifield. Hope, a former Legacy student, was fatally injured in an automobile accident Sunday night. Other family members and Clark Jackson were among those receiving serious injuries. No other information is available at this time. Please keep the Holifield, Rodriguez and Jackson families in your prayers.
We are saddened by the death of Mr. Bennie Harris, Jr, who transitioned Saturday, May 26th. A beautiful Homegoing Celebration was held Saturday, June 2nd at Concord M. B. Church where Pastor Henry Patrick officiated and delivered the eulogy. It was a most touching and realistic message entitled “On My Way Home.” Mrs. Bobbie Hollins was the mistress of ceremony and other program participants included Revs. Anthony Robinson, John T. Evans, and Steve Edwards. Deacon R. C. Williams shared beautiful and stirring melodies. Our prayers are with his family including his children, Mary Jean Yancy, Bonnie Jean Evans, Willie Ray and Guy Harris and his siblings, Mary Louise Coleman, Shirley McGowan, Bobby Greer, and Paul Harris. Please keep his family in your prayers.
Our hearts are saddened by the death of Mrs. Frances Jean Watson Howard who transitioned Friday, May 25th at Lackey Hospital. Mrs. Howard, who attended Hawkins High School, was an excellent cook and a kind person. Her life was celebrated Saturday, June 2nd at W. F. Mapp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy R. Lyles officiating and delivering the eulogy. Mrs. Susie J. Boyd was the mistress of order and Mr. Lawrence Smith was the musician. Rev. Willie Pinkston, Jr. and Ms. Barbara Pinkston were also program participants. Our prayers are with her family, including her daughter, Linda Howard Porter and grandchildren and sister Tommie Clark. Please keep her family in your prayers.
Please continue to remember Mrs. Johnnie Louise Lamb in your prayers. She was released from St. Dominic Hospital and is recuperating at home. Mrs. Laura Jordan and Mrs. Patricia Burt Brown are also recuperating at home. Our prayers continue to be with Mr. Percy Parker.
It was good seeing Mrs. Flo Chambers, Ronnie Thomas, Mitch and Mary Nichols at Mass Sunday. Good hearing from Mrs. Roseann Lynn when we checked on her during the flooding in Asheville, NC. She sends her best regards to her sisters in Christ and friends.
We enjoyed visiting with Rev. Jonathan Parker, Jr., son of the late Mr. Jonathan Parker and the late Mrs. Myrtle Parker. We also enjoyed spending time with Shirley and Edward McGowan, Bobby and Willie Greer, and Paul and Joyce Harris.
We are glad to know that Mrs. Bonnie Russell Hodge continues to improve and that her mother, Mrs. Addie Russell, is doing good and looking forward to celebrating her upcoming birthday.
