On homecoming night, the Forest Bearcats sank their fangs deep into the scoreboard against the Choctaw Central Warriors. This shutout win of 56 to zero brought the Bearcats into the number three rank in the 3A Division.
Coach Jonathan Worrell had this to say about the game: “It was a great night for all. The home crowd was exceptional and the team performed at a high level. It was great to have a game where everyone could get in and multiple guys make big plays. Anytime all three quarterbacks throw touchdown passes and four different guys score on runs, it’s a good night.”
The scoring for Forest rose slowly, quickly in the middling quarters, and tapered off slightly in the final quarter of the game. In the first quarter, the ‘Cats only scored one touchdown and failed to kick the extra point. The second quarter was jammed with points scored by the Bearcats, 29 in all. The score at the end of the half was 35-0, Forest. The third quarter slowed slightly — the Bearcats scored 14 points. Dipping to a steady end, the ‘Cats score seven points in the fourth quarter, to end the game with 56 points to Warriors’ zero.
Offensively, the Bearcats were in the zone on Friday. Forest’s passing game has improved, having completed eight attempts out of 14 for 214 yards. On 21 carries, the Bearcats rushed 265 yards for a total of 479 yards gained. The team had eight touchdowns, four of which were touchdown passes and the other four touchdowns were carried into the end zone.
This Friday, the Bearcats (with a record of 5-2) face the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers (whose record is 3-4) at Meridian. The Tigers are ranked 11th in the 3A Division. Even though the game is away, and the Tigers have home field advantage, the Bearcats are looking for another “W” to add to their record.
