The Forest Bearcats fell to 0-3 on the season after a 48-13 loss to the Pelahatchie Chiefs last Friday night. Through the early season the Bearcats have been competitive, but have come up short on the scoreboard.
FHS clawed its way back from a 14-0 deficit to pull within one at 14-13 midway through the second quarter, but from that moment on it was all Chiefs.
On offense, the Bearcats only mustered 65 yards passing and 69 yards on the ground for 134 yards of total offense. When facing a team the caliber of Pelahatchie, even though they are a 2A opponent, that offensive output is not going to lead to a win.
The visiting Chiefs had three separate players rush for over 100 yards and ended the night 435 yards rushing, and 546 yards of total offense.
On the night, the Bearcats were led on offense by junior Joshua Nicks who rushed for 51 yards on 13 carries and accounted for 126 all-purpose yards. He scored both FHS touchdowns on the night with one of those scores coming on a 75-yard kickoff return for a highlight reel touchdown.
With the loss the Bearcats fall to 0-3 on the season. The Cats will travel to Florence this Friday night to take on the Eagles (0-3). The Eagles are coming off a big 33-6 blowout loss to the Scott Central Rebels. Forest will try to make it losses to Scott County teams in consecutive weeks for Florence as they attempt to get their first win of the year.
The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at Eagle Field in Florence.
