Bobcats dominate Salem in 42-6 win


The Sebastopol Bobcats were ready to play last Friday night when they hosted the Wildcats of Salem High School. Sebastopol turned in a totally dominating performance against their district opponent in the 42-6 victory to move to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Region 4.

The Bobcats gained 235 yards on 35 carries, and 111 yards through the air on their way to scoring 42 points. Bobcats quarterback Jaden Mann led the way moving the football going 9-of-14 for 111 yards passing with one score, and added 139 yards on 17 carries and one score on the ground.

Neither team found the endzone in the open quarter, but Sebastopol hit paydirt twice in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead in to the half.

In the third quarter the Bobcats stretched their lead to 35-0 by scoring another 21 unanswered points, before adding one final score in the fourth quarter.

Reginald Shepherd added 58 yards on seven carries and scored three Bobcats touchdowns on the night. Jahiem Johnson also had a touchdown catch in the game.

The defense held the visiting Wildcats offense to only 143 total yards. Nosikah Melendez and Shepherd each had 9 tackles on the night, and Melendez caused one fumble while recovering two fumbles. Johnson added an interception to cap off the strong defensive effort turned in by the Bobcats defense.

Next up for the Bobcats is the Mount Olive Pirates this Friday night in a Region 4 matchup. Sebastopol will travel south to play the 2-5 Pirates at their home field.
