Bobcats take down Enterprise 41-14 to move to 2-0

By JAMES PHILLIPS,

The Sebastopol Bobcats are off to an impressive start to the 2019 football schedule after a 41-14 win over Enterprise last Friday night brought them to 2-0 on the young season.

The Bobcats offense jumped out on the homestanding Yellowjackets early, scoring two quick touchdowns through the air, before the defense got in on the scoring with a interception returned for a touchdown.

Sebastopol kept their foot on the gas on offense while the defense held Enterprise in check and at the end of the first quarter the Bobcats had a comfortable 21-0 lead on the road.

In the second quarter the Bobcats’ offense kept moving the ball and added on two more touchdown passes from junior quarterback Jaden Mann to extend their lead to 34-0 at halftime.

Mann had a tremendous game leading the offense for the visiting Bobcats and accounted for five touchdowns on the night. He finished the night 10-of-13 for 175 yards passing, with four touchdown passes, and rushed 13 times for 175 yards and another score. Mann really helped silence the home crowd with a highlight reel run of 75 yards for a touchdown.

The third quarter saw the home team put up one of their two touchdowns on the night, but it was too little to late. The Bobcats tacked on another TD in the third quarter to extend their lead to 41-7 before the fourth quarter.

The Yellowjackets added a late touchdown to bring the final score to 41-14 on a night that was owned by Mann and the Bobcat offense that racked up 351 total yards. Jacob Williams and Jaheim Johnson both had two touchdown catches on the night. Johnson also covered kickoff and punt returns duties and accounted for 123 all-purpose yards.

The Bobcats defense was led by junior linebacker Nosikah Melendez who had 10 tackles on the night, and sophomore Dylan Hankins who had a pick-six to get the defense in on the scoring party.

The Bobcats move to 2-0 on the season after outscoring their first two opponents by a combined 61-20.

Sebastopol will host McLaurin (1-1) this Friday night for Homecoming as they will attempt to keep their unbeaten season going. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Bobcat Field in Sebastopol.
